Get involved

Through PRAYER

As a praying member of the community of the Diocese of Portsmouth we count on your intercession.

CCC2745: Prayer and Christian life are inseparable for they concern the same love and the same renunciation, proceeding from love; the same filial and loving conformity with the Father’s plan of love; the same transforming union in the Holy Spirit who conforms us more and more to Christ Jesus; the same love for all men, the love with which Jesus has loved us.

“Whatever you ask the Father in my name, he (will) give it to you.”

Through learning about
Catholic Social Teaching

Your intention matters… By understanding the hope born of a loving heart for Jesus, social action becomes Chrisitan charity.

“An authentic faith always involves a deep desire to change the world, to transmit values, to leave this earth somehow better than we found it. The earth is our common home and all of us are brothers and sisters… (and)… the Church cannot and must not  remain on the sidelines in the fight for justice. The Church’s social thought is primarily positive: it offers proposals, it works for change and in this sense it constantly points to the hope born of the loving heart of Jesus Christ.”
Pope Francis

We hope your parish would like to learn more about Catholic Social Teaching because this will help enable you to discern and take on a parish project that is right for you and your faith and local community.

Working with the diocesan Social Research Unit (SRU)

Caritas will be working with the SRU to assist parishes and pastoral areas to research the actual needs of their local area. Caritas will enable your parish to increase your understanding of the local area, to  identify gaps where you may develop your own project whilst continuing to work closely with other churches/organisations.
